Joan M. Gutjahr

Joan M. Gutjahr, age 79, Coulterville, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:53 a.m., in her home surrounded by her family.

Joan was born on July 23, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter to Fahrner L. and Catherine (McMenemee) Miller. On September 2, 1961, she married Charles Gutjahr in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Coulterville, IL and he survives. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage together. Joan was a homemaker. She enjoyed painting, decorating cakes and crocheting. Joan was known for her bread pudding and her delicious cream puffs. Joan’s passion was spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Gutjahr of Coulterville, IL; two sons, David (Susan) Gutjahr and Kenny (Patti) Gutjahr, both of Coulterville, IL; her twin brother, John (Kay) Miller of St. Peters, MO; five grandchildren, Peter Gutjahr, Hannah Gutjahr, Grace Gutjahr, Jacki Fuller and Ryan Ekes; and two great-grandchildren, Dalton Young and Makenna Fuller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Fred Miller; and one sister, Jean C. Steele.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Christopher Anyanwu officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.

Visitation will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Covid 19 mandates and restrictions will be adhered to and masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL or to the Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
