Joann (Cox) Cathcart
Joann (Cox) Cathcart of Alachua, Florida, formerly of Nashville, passed away on September 4, 2021 at Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She had attained the age of 60 years.
Joann was born on April 4, 1961 in Belleville, the daughter of James E. and Alethea J. Laurent Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert M. Cathcart, brother David E. Cox and her grandparents.
Left to mourn her passing is her son, Clinton J. (Terri) Cathcart; two grandchildren, Braxton and Kaleigh of Dennison, Texas; a sister, Trussia Cox of White City, FL and her special friend of 27 years, John Brown of Alachua, FL. She will also be sadly missed by her aunts, Ruth (Fred) Johnson of Ashley, Carol Laurent of Nashville and Bonnie (Bob) Prange of Nashville; her cousins, Mike (Angel) Reid of Ashley, Terry (Mike) Metcalf of Nashville, Donna Kosydor of Nashvillle, and Bret (Kelly) Prange of Aviston; nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
Joann was a 1979 graduate of Nashville Community High School. She lived in the Gainesville/Alachua area for approximately 30 years. She worked as the Utilities Materials Specialist Senior at Gainesville Regional Utilities for 17 years. Prior to that, Joann worked as a Cosmetologist at Utopia Chalet Day Spa in Gainesville. She loved animals, planting flowers, warm weather, the beach and spending time with family and friends. She was a faithful Florida Gators fan and passed that passion on to her family and friends.
There will be a memorial gathering of family and friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Washington County Animal Shelter.
