Entries Needed For Chili Cook-Off

The Okawville Chamber of Commerce is bringing back a popular event, the Chili Cook-off on Saturday, October 9, after a one year hiatus due to COVID.

Businesses, organizations, and another volunteers are solicited to make chili. The Chamber will provide a $25 stipend for all entries. Bring chili in two roasters, along with a ladle, table,  extension cord, and any decorations. Electric service is available throughout the area. The Chamber will provide bowls, napkins, and spoons.

People who make chili can also sell other food, and keep those proceeds.

The Chamber will sell armbands for unlimited tasting for $15 and regular size bowls for $3.

Entries will be judged by a panel of guest judges. Customers will vote for a “People’s Choice” award. There will also be an award for “Best Decorated Booth.” Prizes will be awarded to winners.

Also featured at the Chili Cook off will be music, face painting, a kiddie tractor pull at 6:30 (registration at 6), and carved/decorated pumpkin contest – deadline 6 p.m. The Farm Bureau Young Farmers are sponsoring the tractor pull.
