Lady Rockets Win Conference Meet

The Okawville Lady Rockets picked up some new hardware by winning the Cahokia Conference Meet Monday at Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course.

Led by all-conference selections Macie Staley, Taylor Hettenhausen, and Avery Killion, Okawville put together a team score of 400 to win the small school division meet.

Staley’s individual score of 90 was good for third overall, one spot ahead of Hettenhausen, who shot 99. Killion’s round of 104 was the eighth lowest on the day.

Erin Nilles just missed the cut for all-conference with a 107, and Paige Riechmann shot 132 for the Lady Rockets.

Last Thursday, Okawville hosted and won a four-team meet with Mater Dei, Marissa/Coulterville and Red Bud.

Staley earned the medal at the event with the low round of 43, and Okawville’s team score of 195 was 11 strokes better than Mater Dei. Red Bud shot 216 and Marissa/Coulterville shot 273.

Hettenhausen also broke 50 for the Lady Rockets with her round of 49. Killion shot 51, and Nilles and Riechmann finished with matching scores of 52.

Okawville is heading into the home stretch of the fall golf season. The Lady Rockets hosted Centralia Tuesday and travel to Red Bud Thursday for their final regular season matches. They will compete in the Althoff Regional next Thursday at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights.
