OJHS Softball Reels Off Three Straight Wins

Okawville Junior High Softball started last week with a big win over Freeburg 13-3 last Tuesday.

Okawville pulled away with six runs in the second inning. Kenley Hackstadt drove in a run with a walk, Schae Juenger and Lillian Cragen both had RBI groundouts, and Addi Hasheider singled in a run and another scored on an error to put the Junior Lady Rockets in control.

Hackstadt earned the win at the mound, allowing four hits and three runs over five innings while striking out six.

Okawville tallied eight hits. Hasheider, Jilien Harre, and Hackstadt each had two hits to lead Okawville.

Okawville 12, Hoyleton 2

The Junior Lady Rockets took an early lead on its way to a 12-2 victory over Hoyleton on Wednesday. 

Okawville scored a triple by Hasheider and a single by Brynn Rhodes. Harre hit an in-the-park home run, Kenley Hackstadt doubled, and Schae Juenger rapped out a single to get the scoring started in the first inning.

After Hoyleton scored one run in the top of the fifth, Okawville answered when Cadee Wiedwilt singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Cragen pitched Okawville to victory. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out ten and walking one.

Okawville racked up 14 hits in the game. Hasheider led Okawville with three hits in three at bats.

Okawville 3, St. Ann 0

Hackstadt had a strong outing in the pitcher’s circle Monday with a shutout win over Nashville-St. Ann.

Hackstadt did not allow a run in Okawville’s 3-0 win. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate to pace the Junior Lady Rockets’ offense.

Rylan Senior doubled in a run in the second inning to put her squad on top, and Okawville never looked back.

The Junior Lady Rockets (8-3) wrap up their regular season this week with games at New Athens Tuesday and Centralia Wednesday before hosting Breese in the regular season finale.

Regionals will be held next week.
