It was a hero’s welcome for Chuck Melton, who showed off the hardware after returning home to Hoyleton with a Silver Medal from the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Melton was honored with a parade from New Minden to Hoyleton, where he met with friends and family at Kretzer Grill and Bar to show off his Olympic hardware.
“We really wanted the Gold, but we can’t be too disappointed with the Silver,” said Melton. “It has been a crazy year with COVID and everything, so I don’t feel too bad even though we came up just short.”
It has been a hectic summer for Melton and Team USA, as the athletes trained for weeks prior to flying to Tokyo for the games.
