COVID Cases Spike in August in County

Fueled by the markedly more transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus, the COVID case count numbers were among the highest monthly total of the pandemic.

August saw a total of 211 positive tests in Washington County, the highest total since January and the fourth highest number of new cases since the start of the pandemic.

In addition to the high monthly case count, Washington County also suffered its first death since last March when a woman in her 50s died from COVID-related illness last month.
