Patricia J. “Patty” Martens

Mrs. Patricia J. “Patty” Martens of Nashville, IL departed this life at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 5:07 AM.  She had attained the age of 57 years, 9 months and 28 days.

Patty was born on November 10, 1963, the daughter of Wilber M. and Ollie M. (Jones) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Daren Martens on October 9, 1993 at St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy, IL and he survives her passing.

Patty worked for Kroger in Nashville, IL as a meat cutter for over 35 years.  She was a member of the St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy, IL and the UFCW Local #700.  Patty enjoyed watching old movies, listening to classic rock and reading books.  She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Patty took great pride in being Meamaw to her two precious grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 27 years, Daren Martens of Nashville, IL; two daughters, Taylor Koen and her husband Garrett of Hecker, IL and Emily Martens and her special friend Bobby Elliott of Freeburg, IL; two grandchildren, Jase Erlinger and Kolbie Koen; eight brothers and sisters, Wilbur (Marcella) Thomas, Larry Roger (Bobbie) Thomas, Clara “Butch” (Les) Heflin, Lonnie (Marty) Thomas, Susie (Brice) Richmond, Judy (Vaughn) Motsinger, Shirley (Steve) Mossa and Sherry (Bill) Colston; mother-in-law, Karen Martens; three sisters-in-law, Lisa (Robert) Schaltenbrand, Karen Thomas and Roseanne Thomas; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Donna) Martens and Ronald Shrum;  and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dean Thomas and Jim Thomas; sister, Myrtle “Myrt” Shrum; nephew, Brett Thomas and her father-in-law, Harold Martens.

Per the wishes of Patty and her family, cremation will be performed and a private memorial service will be held with burial of ashes at the Concord Cemetery in Rice, IL.

Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the St. Salvator Lutheran Church Building Fund and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
