Raises Coming for Okawville Police

Pay raises for the police department topped the agenda at Monday’s meeting of the Okawville Village Board.

The board voted to raise the pay of the police chief and all full-time officers by $3,000 per year effective September 1. Board member Drew Hesker said the raises will bring the pay rate for officers in line with the market rate for police departments in the area.

In addition to that raise, Police Chief Steve Millikin received a pay raise of $1,300 a year effective June 17. Millikin did not receive a raise on the regular cycle earlier this spring, as he was on leave following knee surgery at the time raises were approved.
