Okawville Times Receives Editorial Association Awards

The Okawville Times received first Place Best Local News Coverage by the Southern Illinois Editorial Association.

The Times also received first place for Advertising Excellence,  third place for Best Use of Photography,  and Honorable Mention for Editorial Page.

Editor Travis Volz won first place for Best News Photo “Visiting Santa During A Pandemic”. He won second place for Best Photo Essay “Okawville Wins All-Washington County State Final” and third place for Best Education Story “Area First Responders simulate response active shooter”.

Contributing Editor Debby Stricker won second place for Best Education story “Students share how COVID has changed college life.” `

Stricker also won second place in the Best Feature Story contest, with “Down Syndrome Awareness Month.”.
