ILS Teacher on the Way to Visiting All 50 State Capitals

One local educator wants to do more than teach history and geography; he wants to experience them.

Joe Kirby, who teaches history, science and geography at Immanuel Lutheran School, has made it his quest to take his family to all 50 state capitals.

“I wanted to see the United States so I could bring it back to the classroom,” Kirby said. “I also wanted my son to experience it as well.”

Kirby, his wife Krista, and Nicholas just returned home after heading west to see Sacramento, Denver, Carson City and Topeka.
