Eleanore Smolley

Mrs. Eleanore Smolley of Ashley, IL, departed this life at the Washington County Hospital Extended Care in Nashville, IL on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 9:24 AM.  She had attained the age of 94 years, 2 months and 29 days.

Mrs. Smolley was born on January 24, 1927 at Posen, IL, the daughter of Steve and Pauline (Maskasyni) Smugala.  She was united in marriage to Paul Smolley, Sr. on November 8, 1947 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Posen, IL and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1985.

Eleanore was the co-owner and operator of Smolley’s Processing in Ashley, IL, retiring from the business after 18 years.  She was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL.  Eleanor enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle.  She also enjoyed cheating at cards any chance she would get.

Left to mourn her passing is her son, Paul Smolley, Jr. and wife Judith of Ashley, IL; four grandchildren, Stephanie Smolley of Ashley, IL, Gregory Smolley and wife Chastity of Woodlawn, IL, Jeffrey Smolley and wife Renee of Richview, IL and Kimberly Smolley-Todd and husband Chuck of Woodlawn, IL; nine great grandchildren, Tabitha Taft, Drew Novak, Blake Smolley and wife Ashley, Ryleigh Rynski and special friend Jake, Dalton Smolley, Haleigh Rynski, Baleigh Todd, Elijah Kirgan and Asia Todd; seven great great grandchildren, Corey, Jullian, Trinity, Hadley, Asher, Moxyn and Adalyn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, Anna in infancy, Florence Paszkiewicz, Barbara Ryterski, Theresa Chesnek and Adrian Kujawa; two brothers, Michael in infancy and Edmund Smugala.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11 AM with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Friday from 9 AM until 10:30 AM.

Should friends desire, mass offerings and memorials can be made to the St. Michael Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.

Due to Covid-19 health concerns, restrictions will be followed.  Face coverings will be required, and social distancing measures will be implemented, with a limited number of visitors in the funeral home at any one time.  Please be respectful of time so other visitors may pay their respects to the family.
