New Principal, Teacher Named at Board Meeting
Amanda Ganey of Mascoutah was hired as the new kindergarten through sixth grade principal during the West Washington County Unit District School Board meeting Thursday.
Ganey, who is presently the assistant principal at Moye Elementary School in O’Fallon, will serve as the new principal at Okawville Grade School as part of the shuffling among the district’s administration due to Superintendent Scott Fuhrhop’s retirement at the end of the fiscal year.
Current Okawville Junior-Senior High School principal Keith Senior will take over as superintendent, and OGS Principal Leon Spinka will take over as principal at OJSHS.
Kevin Kenow of Albers was hired as the new business teacher at Okawville after Tiffany Schmale, who was hired just last month, resigned to accept a teaching position with a different district.
The board is now seeking a kindergarten teacher after Christy Sweet’s resignation last month to accept a principal position in Bement. Amber Rednour will move from kindergarten to first grade to fill the position vacated by Sweet’s departure.
In other personnel matters, the board accepted the resignation of custodian Greg Hagopian, and Haylee Bowers resigned as junior varsity girls’ basketball coach. She will continue coaching junior high softball.
