Great Weather Boosts Easter In Park Crowd
The OCYA Park was full of families who came for the first ever “Easter In The Park” event Saturday. Beautiful sunny weather with temperatures in the seventies made it ideal for a spring activity.
A total of 180 children participated in the scavenger hunt and received free treat bags. Okawville Fair Queen Tiffany Thompson and Junior Miss Sage Hackstadt handed out the treat bags. Adeline Blumhorst gave out the five prizes for people who got a golden egg ticket in their treat bag.
Children sat in front of Easter Bunny for “distanced” photos. They also petted ducks, bunnies, and chickens brought by Daniel Siliven and miniature goats and a chicken brought by Jayne Kolweier of Rainbow Ranch.
On a day with families lingering to enjoy the outdoors, children also covered the playground equipment and enjoyed food from the food trucks and people selling desserts and treats.
“It was a fantastic day” said Holly Brown, one of the West Washington County Progress Initiative organizers of the event. “It was great to see so many families come out to enjoy the day – and just be normal.”
