Dolores M. Karg

Dolores Karg of Lively Grove, IL departed this life in the Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 8:45 A.M. She had attained the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

Dolores was born in Plum Hill Township Twp., Washington County, IL on November 22, 1932 the daughter of Edward and Amanda (nee Hackstadt) Ostendorf. She was baptized in the St. John Evangelical Church in Plum Hill, IL on December 11, 1932 by Rev. Rauch and was confirmed at St. John’s on March 30, 1947 by Rev. Weltge. She was united in marriage to Norman R. Karg in St. John’s on October 20, 1957 and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2018.

Mrs. Karg was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was a former member of the Washington County Home Extension, Elkton Community Club and a former member of the Washington County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and received their Farm Woman of the Year award in 1985. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Dolores was a lifelong and faithful member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill where she taught Sunday School for over twenty years. She enjoyed making apple butter, gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching the birds gather to eat from her feeders. She enjoyed going out with her friends and especially loved family gatherings. Dolores also loved her trips to Gulf Shores, AL 

Left to mourn her passing are two children, David Karg of Lively Grove and Kathy Karg of Addieville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Marie Ostendorf of Addieville and Frances Patton of Oakdale, IL; a brother-in-law, Carl D. Karg of Murphysboro, IL; an aunt, Alice Shubert of Lively Grove; her Goddaughter, Jeri Hausmann of Godfrey, IL; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Karg; a brother, Everett Ostendorf; father and mother -in-law, Carl and Frances Karg, a sister-in-law, Anna Green and husband Russell; two brothers-in-law, Frank Karg and wife Virginia and Keith Patton; and two nephews, Ricky Karg and Terry Green.

Funeral services will be held from the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in the church cemetery. 

Friends may call at the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill on Monday, April 5 from 5 PM. until 8 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 9 A.M. until the service hour.

Due to Covid-19 health concerns, restrictions will be followed. Face coverings will be required, and social distancing measures will be implemented, with a limited number of visitors in the funeral home or church at any one time. Please be respectful of time so other visitors may pay their respects to the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John Cemetery, St. John Building Fund, Okawville Senior Center, or to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
