County Board Votes To Buy Land

The Washington County Board overwhelmingly voted to buy a 5.88 acre tract on the north side of Nashville at its meeting last Tuesday.

The county will exercise its option to purchased the acreage from Larry Boreup, for $25,000 an acre.

In the 12-1 vote in favor to purchase the land, yes votes were from Board Chairman Dave Meyer, Gary Suedmeyer, Dennis Shemonic, Kate Muenter, Alan Hohlt, Dave Ibendahl, Vic Shubert, Gene Lamczyk, Rodney Small, Leo Barczewski, Doug Bening, and Eric Brammeier.

Paul Todd cast the only “no” vote. Brian Klingenberg and Larry Unverfehrt were absent.

The board plans to rezone the tract from agriculture to manufacturing. Although it would not be used for manufacturing purposes, that designation would allow for other county uses, such as construction of Highway  Department, Ambulance Department, or Health Department facilities, said Property chairman Gary Suedmeyer.
