The race to vaccinate as many people as possible continues, and Washington County is falling behind statewide average.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Washington County has a total of 530 people fully vaccinated, which is 3.79 percent of the county population.
That lags behind the statewide percentage of people vaccinated, which stands at 4.48 percent. Last week, the difference between the county and the state was about 0.3 percent.
A total of 2,553 doses of vaccines have been administered to county residents, most of which have gone to people age 65 and older. The IDPH website indicates that just over 38 percent of county residents over the age of 65 have received at least one shot.
