Two New COVID Deaths; Big Drop in Case Counts
Even as the number of new COVID cases continues its steep decline in Washington County, the number of COVID-related deaths increased by two in the last week.
As of Monday, the Washington County Health Department reported just 14 new cases in the previous seven days, the lowest number of new cases since last fall. But with that piece of good news came some bad news: two county residents, a man and a woman in their 90s, died of COVID complications in the last week.
Since the start of the pandemic, Washington County has seen a 1,574 positive cases and 27 deaths. A total of 62 people have had COVID symptoms severe enough to require hospitalization.
Though the numbers have been trending in the right direction and a vaccine is available, health officials are urging residents to remain mindful of COVID precautions to keep fighting the spread of the virus.
