Rockets Defeat Carlyle

By Jon Kraus

The Okawville Rockets were finally able to tip off their season Saturday against Carlyle in their first Cahokia Conference matchup.

Both teams were rusty on offense early and both teams had some turnovers.

Okawville made a quick run early in the fourth to stretch the lead with some key 3-pointers.  The lead grew to 18 and the Rockets would hold on for a 66-40 victory to go to 1-0.

The Rockets were scheduled to return to action at Salem on Tuesday and home against Wesclin on Thursday before the weather came in and then finish the week at Central Saturday afternoon.
