An Okawville business that has been in the same family for nearly a century now has a new owner.
Streuter Auto Sales and Service has been sold to Okawville Equipment.
It will continue operating as Streuter’s Auto Care at the same location on Front St. The same services will be provided with Streuter’s employees Kevin and Joe as service technicians.
Okawville Equipment will display Kubota tractors on Streuter’s lot for more visibility on Front St., said co-owner Cody Whitworth. Sales of equipment will continue at its location on Route 177 at the west end of town.
Streuter’s former owners Gary Streuter has retired and Pat (Streuter) Holtgrewe will continue working for the new owners part-time.
Streuter and Holtgrewe, are the fourth generation to operate the 98 year old business. Business names throughout that time were Streuter’s Garage, Streuter Chevrolet, and most recently Streuter Auto Sales and Service.
The name change from Streuter Chervolet to Streuter’s Auto Sales and Service came when the business discontinued its affiliation as a Chervrolet dealer. In 2020 the business discontinued its used vehicle sales.
