Donato Hits the Gridiron in Kentucky
By Travis Volz
Not every athlete from the area was unable to play football last fall. Bryce Donato of Nashville just had to leave the state to do it.
Donato, who played football for three years in Nashville, moved in with relatives in Kentucky to compete in athletics for his senior year of high school.
“I’ve gone to school in Nashville since we moved here in third grade, so it was a bittersweet decision,” Donato said. “But I’ve been working hard for months, and this was the right move for me.”
Donato says his dream is to be a college football coach, so that made the decision to play in Kentucky the right one for him, according to his father Danny.
“We are blessed to have family in Kentucky, and he had worked so hard during the pandemic quarantine,” said Danny, who serves as pastor of Lighthouse Community Church in Nashville. “It was his call, and we supported him on it.”
