Sales Tax Income Declines In Okawville, Most County Towns

Retail sales in Okawville decreased in the 2019-2020 fiscal year, according to sales tax information provided by the Illinois Department of Revenue.

The Village of Okawville received $225,922 as its one percent share of taxable sales. In the previous fiscal year Okawville received $238,890.

The number of businesses collecting sales tax increased from 59 the last quarter of the 2018-19 fiscal year to 60 in the   last quarter of the 2019-20 fiscal year.

The decline of 5 percent sales tax income for the village follows a .1 percent decrease the previous fiscal year, and 1.2 percent increase in retail sales in 2017-2018, and declines of 2.5 percent, 2.1 percent and 3.6 percent the three prior fiscal years.

In the six years before that, Okawville had increases ranging from 1.8 percent to 8.3 percent, with only one year of a decrease.
