Betty L. Briggs

Mrs. Betty L. Briggs of Nashville, IL, departed this life at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 10:44 PM.  She had attained the age of 91 years, 7 months and 23 days.

Mrs. Briggs was born on May 7, 1929 in Ashley, IL, the daughter of Noah and (Emily) Euna (nee Martel) Newcomb.  She was united in marriage to Paul G. Briggs on November 22, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Nashville, IL and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2004.

Betty worked for many years as a nurse for Dr. Walker, Dr. Charles Longwell and at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville, IL.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville, IL.

Left to mourn her passing is her three children, Richard G. Briggs and wife Rebecca of Weldon Spring, MO, Byron Briggs and wife Linda of Mission, KS and Mary Stark and husband Gary of Marion, IL; six grandchildren, Emily McKinnon, Ethan Briggs, Jodie Bigbee, Violet Propst and Chloe and Lily Stark; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Brenda Hanson and two brothers, Elmer and Clarence Newcomb.

Due to Covid 19 health concerns, private funeral services will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Tuesday, January 5, 2020.  Interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Nashville, IL.

Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church or the Cambridge Adult Day Care in Overland, MO and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
