The Washington County Board has taken an option to buy a 7 acre tract on Route 127 near Enterprise Ave. so it would be available for future development, said Finance Chairman Gary Suedmeyer.
The option to buy contract is with Larry and Rosalee Boreup, for $25,000 an acre.
The purchase will likely occur in several months, pending the approval of the full board, said Suedmeyer.
At a special meeting last Tuesday the board approved hiring an engineering firm to survey the undeveloped site for boundary lines.
Suedmeyer said that the board has no immediate plans to develop the tract, but is pursuing the purchase because the opportunity to buy it presented itself.
