Okawville Alumni Tapped for IBCA Hall of Fame Induction

Okawville will have two more members of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Abel Schrader and Jon Kraus will be among the 2021 IBCA Hall of Fame Class. Schrader will be inducted as a player and Kraus as a coach.

Schrader says that being able to play in Okawville helped his career immensely. “First of all, I was in a good situation playing in Okawville, because it is such a special basketball community,” he said.

Though a standout player for the Rockets in his own right, Kraus will be inducted for his career coaching at Okawville.

The winner of more than 400 games and a state championship, Kraus says that the honor is the result of a lot of hard work, and not just from him.

“I think about all the guys who work in the basketball program, assistant coaches, players, a coach doesn’t get this kind of honor without them,” he said.
