Marilyn M. Segelhorst

Mrs. Marilyn Margaretha Anna Segelhorst of Vendy, IL departed this life in the St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 5:37 P.M. She had attained the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 15 days.

Marilyn was born in Venedy on August 22, 1936 the daughter of Otto and Leona (nee Finke) Koch. She was baptized on September 9, 1936 in the St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy and confirmed at St. Salvator on April 10, 1949. Marilyn was united in marriage to William “Bill” Segelhorst on October 23, 1954 in the St. Salvator Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1999.

Marilyn was a life-long and faithful member of the St. Salvator Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and ran an in-home daycare. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing are her five children, Mona Ostendorf and husband John of Nashville, IL, Tom Segelhorst and wife Lori of Venedy, Deb Habrock and husband Terry of Lively Grove, IL, Joe Segelhorst and wife Rachel of Venedy, and John Segelhorst and wife Christy of Venedy; a daughter-in-law, Melanie Segelhorst of Venedy; 13 grandchildren, Kelly (Jeff) Goforth, Eric (Annie) Segelhorst, J.D. (Sarah) Segelhorst, William (Brittany) Segelhorst, Ashley (Tyler) Hackstadt, Todd (Juli) Shubert, Paige (Skylar) Paul, Andrew Germaine, Rebekah Segelhorst, Colten Segelhorst, Emery Segelhorst, Emmett Segelhorst, and Scarlett Segelhorst; 16 great grandchildren, Peyton, Olivia, Karlie, Tommy, Rose, Justice, Hannah, Cora, Meigha, Kenley, Tyson, Sage, Kassidee, Kallee, Kamdyn, and Bretsyn; a brother, Vernon Koch and wife Geri of Venedy; a brother-in-law, Lester Segelhorst and wife Mary of Addieville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Segelhorst of Venedy and Shirley Vernon of Okawville; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Paul Segelhorst; a grandson in infancy; a son-in-law, Craig Shubert; two brothers-in-law, Paul Segelhorst and Donald Segelhorst; and a sister-in-law, Irene Holtgrewe and husband Edgar.

Due to Covid-19 health concerns, private services will be held from the St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy with Pastor Art Eichhorn officiating.

Following the services, cremation will be performed, and interment of ashes will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Salvator Bell Tower Fund, St. Salvator Education Building Fund, or to the Okawville Senior Center and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
