County Treasurer Mails Real Estate Tax Bills

The Washington County Treasurer’s Office mailed to 2019 payable 2020 Real Estate Tax Bills on Friday, September 25. The total amount of tax to collect is $25,474,079.58.

The first installment of taxes is due on Monday, October 26, and the second installment is due Friday, November 20.

To avoid late penalty charges, tax bills must be paid by each due date. The installment due dates will be enforced, and postmarks will be honored.

The Washington County Courthouse has limited access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to ensure the health and safety of both employees and taxpayers, County Treasurer Natalie Lynch encourages taxpayers to make payments by mail, online or by using the payment drop box located near the south entrance. Those wanting a receipt should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with their payment.

Taxpayers who want to pay in person will be subject to the COVID-19 safety screening, and wearing a mask is requested, and appropriate stubs should be brought with payments.

“Please be aware that we will make every effort to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible,” Lynch said in a press release.

Seating will be limited, and anyone with questions or concerns about their bill should call the office at (618) 327-4800 ext. 315 to see if an appointment is necessary.

Those wishing to mail payments should send them to: Washington County Treasurer, 101 E. St. Louis Street, Nashville, Illinois 62263.
