Jimtown Road Project Delayed Again
The bankruptcy of a subcontractor on the Jimtown Road Bridge replacement is causing a delay in reopening, Washington County engineer Kiefer Heiman reported at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Washington County Board.
The subcontractor that was to install guardrails on the bridge declared bankruptcy prior to completing the work, which has caused a delay in the reopening of Jimtown Road. It was projected to reopen late last month.
According to Heiman, the Illinois Department of Transportation has to review and approve a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise to replace the shuttered subcontractor. He hopes the project will be completed within two weeks of IDOT approval for the new subcontractor.
