Okawville High School was the site of the latest electronics recycling event Saturday.
More than ten tons of electronic equipment, as well as nearly a ton of microwave ovens, were collected at the event, which is organized by the Washington County Board Solid Waste Committee and the Washington County Health Department.
Despite temperatures that reached 97 degrees, 11 volunteers from the Okawville Lions Club and other members of the community assisted by unloading this material from vehicles. At times, the line of vehicles waiting to drop off items was two blocks long.
