Former Okawville Residents Continue Missionary Work In Chad, Africa

For six years former Okawville residents Brian and Becky Schrader have helped improved the lives people in one of the poorest countries in the world.

They work in Chad, Africa with a Christian interdenominational organization called Pioneers. Brian is the team leader of a group that is involved in medical and dentistry work, veterinary care, education (teaching English) and well drilling and repair projects.  The group that is not primarily a humanitarian organization also does other work. The mission team includes the Schraders, two other families, and one single woman. They are the only foreigners in the town.

Brian is an emergency medicine Physician Assistant and Becky is a veterinarian. The couple has been married for 21 years as of May 2020.

To prepare for the mission work in the French speaking country, the Schraders went to Quebec in 2012 to study French. They moved to Chad in January of 2014.
