The Washington County Fair Board was looking forward to a bigger and better event in 2020.
But those plans are on hold, at least for now, said Fair Board President Rhonda Mueller.
The Fair scheduled for July 7-11 may become a victim of the COVID-19 ban on groups of more than 10 people.
The board will make a decision by June 1 about the Fair, said Mueller. The Region must advance to phase 5 of the reopening plan, which allows groups of more than 50, to proceed with the Fair.
Okawville Fair & Wheat Festival
The Okawville Fair and Wheat Festival has the advantage over other fairs because it is later in the season. A decision of the fate of 2020 event can be delayed for a while, said Fair President Roy Frederking.
But even a mid-September date may not be late enough to avoid COVID-19 crowd restrictions, said Frederking.
July 4th Dance
The Okawville Community Club July 4th dance has been canceled.
Venedy Homecoming & Yard Sale
The Venedy Homecoming scheduled for August 8th has been canceled.
The annual St. Libory town yard sale has been cancelled for this year, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
