Lady Rockets Basketball Players Receive Awards

Okawville High girl varsity basketball coach Michelle-Hasheider-Burianek and junior varisty coach Haylee Althoff presented end of season awards via Facebook, because the team could not meet in person.

Coach Hasheider-Burianek said it was a memorable season to reach to Elite 8, noting  “It was further than anyone thought we could go,” she said.

“What I loved about the season is how much everyone loved to be around this team,” Hasheider-Burianek said.

At times the Lady Rockets were missing as many as three starters, but other players would step up, said the coach.

“The future looks extremely bright,” Hasheider-Burianek said.   “The seniors set a high bar.”

Megan Schleifer: Free Throws Percentage,    71%

Delaney Toensing: Defense

Briley Rhodes: Steals, 44

Megan Rennegarbe: Field Goal Percentage, 42

Hasheider gave thanks to many people helping her in what she called a “tough year”, in reference to her treatment and recuperation from breast cancer.
