Coronavirus Casualty – The Show Won’t Go On

Okawville High’s first ever musical, “Mamma Mia”, has officially been canceled because of restrictions on people gathering in this COVID-19 shut down. The event originally set for March was later rescheduled for June. Students were only a few days from the original show dates when school and all activities stopped March 16.

Director Amy Welch calls the forced cancellation “terribly disappointing and devastating news to all of us. Everyone has worked so hard on this since November,” she said.

The $2,300 royalty paid for the rights to perform “Mamma Mia” is not lost, Welch said. The royalty can be applied for another musical next year.
