Wayne William Bening

Wayne William Bening, 87, of Cape Girardeau, died on April 28, 2020 at his home.

Was born January 17,1933 at Okawville, Illinois to William W. and Adele Tepe Bening.

Proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a medic. Wayne was a graduate of Okawville Community High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri.

Former member of the Cape Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce and the Evening Optimist Club.

Mr. Bening was employed in consumer finance, leasing and insurance for many years. For 27 years he was the owner and operator of State Collection, Inc. Mr. Bening was a licensed Missouri Insurance Broker and a National Member of the Time Financial Adjuster. He was also a member of the American Recovery Association.

Survived by four children, Deborah (Rob) Pensel, Susan Niswonger; John Bening, Joseph (Shelly) Bening; daughter-in-law, Tammy Bening; five grandchildren, Joshua Pensel, Erika Bening, Tyler Bening, Blake Bening and Jacob Bening; one great-grandchild, Raylee Jo Bening; one brother, Dennis Bening; and one sister, Elverna Voelkel.

Preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Due to current gathering restrictions, the family will have a private viewing followed by a private graveside service at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Interment will be in the Veterans Section at the cemetery with full military honors provided by the Missouri Honors Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
