Local Sailor in Quarantine in Guam

Erik Harkness, who serves in the Navy on the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier, is now on quarantine in a hotel in Guam. So far, he has tested negative for COVID-19, but will be retested later in April.

The Roosevelt has had wide-spread corona virus outbreak, including former Okawville resident, Nick Everding.

Harkness is part of the VAQ 142 of Whidbey Island, Wa. He is an aviation structural mechanic 3rd class, working on the EA-18 Growlers. This is his first deployment with the Navy.

Harkness is the son of Rebecca Pray Harkness of Lively Grove and Christopher Harkness of Nashville. He attended Johannisburg Grade School briefly, which was followed by Immanuel Lutheran in Okawville and Trinity Lutheran in Hoyleton. He graduated from Christ Our Rock High School in 2017.
