Lighthouse Community Church of Okawville Launches via Facebook Amid Corona Shutdown

The church is located in the former First Baptist Church building on State Rt. 177.

Online services are nothing new for Lighthouse Community Church. For the past several years, pastor Danny Donato has been simulcasting his weekly services live via Facebook, but that wasn’t how he envisioned launching a new campus.

“We’ve been praying and planning this new campus in Okawville for over 18 months. It took us a long time to finalize this launch date, and to have it happen during the shelter in place, well that’s disappointing, but we know there is a bigger purpose for it all,” says Donato. “We postponed a huge community event prior to the launch, but when we realized this situation was not changing, we decided to go forward with the launch virtually. We’ll hold a celebration at a later date to commemorate the occasion.”

The church has been active in the Okawville community for the last year leading up to the launch. They did a blitz to give out treats at the ballpark, worked the Wheat Festival as the largest volunteer group, and participated in the Christmas Stroll, among other activities.

Lighthouse Community Church of Okawville will continue to share virtual services with their Nashville campus at 9:30am on Sundays via Facebook. You can find them at facebook.com/lccnashvilleIL/ and their office is open for calls -or questions at 618-327-4006. Their website is lcc-okawville.com

Once able to meet, services will be held at 11am in Okawville. Nursery will be available and Youth and Children’s Ministries will also begin.

Stay tuned to their Facebook page for updates and various online opportunities to interact during this time. Pastor Donato and other ministry leaders are posting content and hosting virtual small groups daily for children, youth and adults. Contact the church to get involved.

Lighthouse’s Celebration Sunday for their official launch was held via Facebook.
