Nashville Grad Takes School Trip to Panama
It has been a year of firsts for Nashville High School graduate Alex Johannes, and the firsts are not limited to being a college freshman at the University of Illinois.
Johannes recently returned from a trip to Panama with the U of I College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
“It was the first time I ever flew, and it was the first time I ever left the country,” Johannes said of the experience.
Thirteen students and two chaperones learned about Panamanian agriculture as part of ACES study abroad program.
“The goal of the trip is to give first year students a chance to gain a little bit of a global perspective about agriculture,” Johannes explained.
