The Okawville Rockets finished fifth at the grueling Mater Dei Tournament over the holiday break, playing in five games in four days, including a triple overtime loss to Mascoutah. Read full tournament details in this week’s issue.
Mascoutah 74, Okawville 70 (Triple OT)
Rockets began play in the Mater Dei tourney with a match-up against the overall 4th seed Mascoutah Indians on December 26. Both teams shot the ball well early in the game and both teams would trade baskets most of the first half. Okawville would end the first half tied with the Indians at 26.
The second half was very similar in both teams would exchange leads throughout the game and like the first half, regulation would end in a 51-51 tie. At the finish the Indians would come away with a 74-70 triple overtime win over the Rockets.
Lucas Frederking paced Okawville with 23 points, and Jacksen Harre and Mason Meyer finished with 13 apiece. Jackson Heckert scored a dozen points, Tyler Parsley finished with six and Caleb Unverfehrt chipped in three points.
