Okawville Sales Tax Income Dips; 4th Decline In Past Five Years
Retail sales in Okawville dipped slightly in the 2018-2019 fiscal year, according to sales tax information provided by the Illinois Department of Revenue.
The Village of Okawville received $238,890 as its one percent share of taxable sales. In the previous fiscal year Okawville received $239,163.
The number of businesses collecting sales tax decreased from 68 in the last quarter of the 2017-2018 FY to 59 in the last quarter of the 2918-19 FY.
The decline of 0.1 percent sales tax income for the village follows a 1.2 percent increase in retail sales in the 2017-2018 fiscal year and declines of 2.5 percent. 2.1 percent, and 3.6 percent the three prior fiscal years.
In the six years before that, Okawville had increases ranging from 1.8 percent to 8.3 percent, with only one year of a decrease.
