Okawville American Legion Post 233 is seeking bids for the roofing replacement project at the Legion Hall.
Andy Jankowski of the American Legion said that the group is moving forward with the bid process after hearing back from the insurance company.
“The insurance company is going to cover 50 percent of the cost, so we are now moving ahead with the bid process,” Jankowski said.
In addition to the costs of the roofing project, the insurance company will also help with some of the other costs, including asbestos abatement.
“Obviously projects like this take some time, but we are hoping to be back in business later in the spring or early summer,” he said.
In January of last year, the roof over the dance hall gave way after a heavy snowfall, and that part of the building has been closed ever since. The bar and restaurant remain open.
