F/S Rockets Tip Off Season Last Week

Pinckneyville 64, Okawville 24

The Freshmen Rockets open up their 2019-2020 season by traveling south to play the Pinkneyville Panthers. The Panthers proved to be one of the best teams that the Rockets would face this year.

This contest remained tight for the first six minutes with the orange and blue receiving big three-pointers from Grant Schleifer and Landan Schmersahl in the first quarter.

However, Pinkneyville started to pull away in the second quarter, as the Panthers were able pounce on the ball with numerous turnovers and took a 33-14 lead into halftime.

The second half turned out to be much of the same as the Rockets would simply run out of fuel and lose this contest 64-24.

Dillon Teter and Grant Schleifer led in scoring with eight points, while Landan Schmersahl and Hayden Shubert each added three. Dusty Wilfong rounded out the scoring with two points.

Pinckneyville 48, Okawville 14

The Sophomore Rockets also opened up their season by playing the boys in playing the boys in powder blue. The Panthers were a much more physical and balanced basketball team than the Rockets at this point in the season.

Gibault 40, Okawville 36

Okawville’s freshmen squad faced the Gibault Hawks in the home opener.
