Public Meeting to Discuss Marijuana Businesses in County
The Washington County Zoning Committee will hold an informational meeting to discuss the potential for sale or production of marijuana in the county next week.
The meeting, which is open to the public, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. at the Community Center in Nashville.
At the meeting will be the Washington County Zoning Administrator, as well as members of the County Zoning Board, which will report to the full county board before any decision is made regarding the possibility of marijuana-based businesses in the county.
As of January 1, 2020, a new law goes into effect in Illinois legalizing the recreational use of marijuana for those over the age of 21. This law allows counties and municipalities to create ordinances either allowing or prohibiting cultivators and/or dispensaries within its borders.
