Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Circle K in Okawville early last Wednesday morning.
According to police, two men wearing masks entered the Circle K on Wednesday, September 18 at approximately 2 a.m. Both subjects brandished handguns and demanded money from the register.
After taking an unknown amount of money, the suspects exited the building and fled on foot.
The store has loss prevention procedures to minimize risks for employees. When registers reach a certain amount of cash, employees are required to drop the money into a locked safe that is only accessible by the manager.
The scene was processed by Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services. An investigation by the Okawville Police Department in conjunction with other agencies is ongoing.
