Kay Winka
Mrs. Kay Winka of DuBois, IL departed this life at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. She had attained the age of 76 years and 20 days.
Mrs. Winka was born on August 21, 1943 in West Frankfort, IL the daughter of Clarence and Georgia (Daniels) Leslie. She was united in marriage to Leroy Winka on May 25, 1968 at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller, IL and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2009.
Kay was a homemaker and a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL., where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school religion classes to the kids. She loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball games, listening to Christmas music and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
Left to mourn her passing are her four children, Christy Hacay and husband Brian of Ballwin, MO, Richard Winka of DuBois, IL, Gary Winka and wife Kylea of Longmont, CO, Jennifer Sursa and husband Darren of Centralia, IL; 11 grandchildren, Blake Hacay, Allison Hacay, Brandon Hacay, Andrew (Anna) Hacay, Korri Winka, Moriah (fiancé Kyle Adermann) Depew, Skylar (Maddie) Depew, Emma Sursa, Gracie Winka, Taylor Sursa and Amber Sursa; one great grandchild, Kaleb Adermann; brother-in-law, Marvin Winka and wife Bernice; sister-in-law, Sherry Kobus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, June (Dwight) Mannen and Betty Duff; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Lillian Winka; brother-in-law, Larry Kobus; nephew, John Duff and great nephew, Matthew Mannen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom IL on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10 AM with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, IL on Sunday from 4 PM until 7 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM until 9:30 AM.
The rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 PM.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Michael Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
