Nominating Petitions for 2020 Election Available

Washington County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Heseman announced that her office recently made nominating petitions for the March 2020 Primary Election available, and several officeholders have announced plans to run for reelection.

Nomination petitions are currently being accepted for the Washington County offices of circuit clerk, state’s attorney, coroner, and several county board of trustees seats.

Current officeholders Cindy Barczewski (circuit clerk), Dan Bronke (state’s attorney), and Mark Styninger (coroner) have already announced plans to stand for election again.

Additionally, Washington County Board members Eric Brammeier (District 3), Paul Todd (District 3), Dennis Shemonic (District 1), Kathy Muenter (District 1) and Leo Barczewski (District 2) have plans to run for reelection.

As of this writing, board members Vic Shubert (District 3), Larry Unverfehrt (District 1) and Dave Ibendahl (District 2) are undecided on running next year.

Also up for election for two-year terms are precinct committeemen for all precincts.

Nominating petitions are available at the Washington County Clerk’s office, from the Illinois State Board of Elections, or from the party chairs in the county.

Heseman’s office will accept petitions from Monday, November 25 through Monday, December 2.
