Parents Group To Push For After School Care
A group of parents is advocating an initiative to provide after school care at school.
They are asking taxpayers in the district to attend the next school board meeting Thursday, August 22 to raise awareness for an affordable quality afterschool program for Okawville Grade School students.
They believe there is enough demand, since many school-age children have both parents working outside the home. “Latchkey” children return after school to a house with no adult supervision. After school programs can provide structure while helping children with their studies and providing enrichment activities.
The school board meeting is at 8 p.m. in the Jr./Sr. High School Conference Center Room.
