Fire at the Blue Room in New Minden
Area firefighters were able to contain a fire at the Blue Room in New Minden last Thursday morning, saving a building that has become a local landmark.
Hoyleton Fire Chief Craig Spenner said the call came in at around 6 a.m. Thursday, and firefighters from Hoyleton and Nashville were on scene shortly thereafter.
The fire started in the freezer area, and the quick response time allowed crews to contain the fire before it spread.
“With older building like this, we always worry that the fire will spread quickly,” Spenner said. “We were able to keep it contained to one area and make sure the whole building did not go up.”
