Unit School District Has Several Coaching Opportunities
The West Washington County Unit District has put out a “Help Wanted” sign for several Junior High and High School coaching positions.
Positions of assistant seventh/eighth grade girls softball, assistant Junior High girls volleyball coach, and assistant seventh/eighth grade boys baseball coach are being added for the next school year.
Other positions to be filled are fifth and sixth grade girls basketball, which was formerly done by Christy Sweet; three coaches for Junior High volleyball teams, which were formerly coached by Rhonda and Tom Hormann; Junior High track team assistant to help coach Val Tepe, which was formerly done by Keith Riechmann.
The coaching positions were first posted for Unit District staff, and then advertised in the newspaper.
Having a teacher’s certificate is not required to coach.
Athletic Director Jon Kraus said that the ideal candidates are experience in the sport and have a background in coaching. Also, candidates must have flexible time availability. Practice is held after school, and the teams leave school at about 2:30 for away baseball/softball games and track meets.
Applications can be submitted to Jon Kraus, PO Box 27, Okawville.
