County Board Retains Lawyer For Labor Negotiations
The Washington County Board voted to retain a lawyer from St. Louis to negotiate a labor contract during the regular meeting last Tuesday in Nashville.
Michael Lowenbaum of Jackson Lewis P.C. in St. Louis will negotiate with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers on behalf of the county.
In past negotiations, the IBEW, which represents most county employees outside of the sheriff’s office, worked with the state’s attorney and county board.
“We thought it would make sense to bring in an expert on labor law to help with the negotiations,” said County Board member Letisha Luecking. “The union has a specialist negotiating for it, so we think we should also.”
State’s Attorney Dan Bronke, who serves as the county’s regular legal counsel, met with Lowenbaum and agreed with the decision to retain a specialist in labor law.
