Music Students Bring Home Hardware, Memories from Chicago

A weekend trip to Chicago resulted in some new hardware for the Okawville music department.

Okawville’s band and choir competed in the Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags Great America, and the band earned first place in the High School Class 1A Band Competition, first place high school band overall, and an excellent rating.

Not to be outdone, the Okawville choir was awarded third place in the High School Class 1A Choir Competition with an excellent rating.

“I am extremely proud of both the band and choir for their fantastic performances in Chicago,” said music director Reed Recker. “I am so happy I got to share the experiences of this trip with such a wonderful group of students.”
